I decided to update my 1970s student-quality Yamaha classical guitar with a nylon-string electric model that I could use for bossas and other fingerstyle playing. The Takamine is a good quality model at a three-digit price. It has a piezo pickup with an on-board pre-amp, which includes a three-section EQ, notch filter, and tuner. It requires a 9v battery, which goes dead at the most inopportune times so I keep a stock on hand.
